Châteauguay … my true nature

On behalf of the municipal council of Châteauguay, permit me to share with you our pride at having been chosen, for a second consecutive year, as a host city for the Coupe du Monde Cycliste Féminine de Montréal - Tour du Grand Montréal.

Welcoming international-level athletes places the City of Châteauguay on par with other major municipalities, due to its infrastructures that are adapted to the sport of cycling.

As a partner in this event, I would like to add my voice to those of the organizers so we can continue and improve this competition in the years to come.

An event of this scope would not be possible without the help of many volunteers.  The dynamism of the residents of Châteauguay along with the professionalism of municipal employees guarantees a high quality event, equal to our commitment.

Welcome and enjoy your visit.

MAYOR’S MESSAGE

I am very pleased that the city is once again hosting the Montreal Women’s Cycling World Cup Race, the seventh stage of an 11-round world tour. This event will give us a chance to see the world’s top cyclists in action, especially on the now famous Mount Royal course, the most demanding of the tour. We can only be pleased with the fact that Montréal is once again the only city on the North American continent to host such a prestigious event that strengthens Montréal’s position in the world of international cycling and helps promote our city’s great reputation.

Cycling enthusiasts will be well served since just a few days later they will see these well-known athletes in the Tour du Grand Montréal, event that is considered to be the most important of its kind for cycling in the Americas.

It should also be mentioned that the quality of the organization made it possible for the Montreal Women’s Cycling World Cup Race to be a finalist at the 2007 Sport Québec Gala in the international event category. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Daniel Manibal, his team and the volunteers who organized it. I am also happy that my colleague, Francine Senécal, Vice Chair of the Executive Committee, in charge of sports, recreation and nature museums in Montreal, is once again assuming the role of Honorary President.

I extend a warm welcome to the athletes and the many spectators who will come to show their appreciation for them.
