The City of Montréal is once again delighted to welcome the Women’s Cycling World Cup, as well as the two stages of the Tour du Grand Montréal that are being held in Lachine and Little Italy.

The City of Montréal is proud to be associated with the only World Cup of road cycling and the only Grand Tour in the Americas. Thanks to its involvement in elite cycling and its work in creating the Défis des jeunes, the Épreuves de la Coupe du Monde cycliste féminine team contributes greatly to developing Montréal’s reputation as a city of cycling.

It is an honour for us to welcome the best cyclists in the world, who have come here to present us with such a high-calibre event. Whether it is the World Cup on Mount Royal, the time-trial stage in the borough of Lachine, or the Tour du Grand Montréal rally in Little Italy, this festival of cycling offers Montrealers an opportunity to come together as family or friends.

I am delighted that the holding of such events in our city encourages my fellow citizens to become involved in sports.
