Word of the Honorary President

Mrs. Francine Senécal

Vice -president of the executive committee, officer for sports, leisure and scientific equipment.

It has been a great pleasure for me to serve as Honorary President of this tenth Women's World Cup Event. These international level sports competitions offer an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy high performance sports in an outdoor setting.

Once more, the Mount Royal event, one of the most demanding and most difficult on the UCI women's circuit, will be the heart of the event where the best cyclists in the world demonstrate their immense talent and their great determination in a setting that is considered the jewel of Montreal's natural heritage. Spectators will appreciate the new location of the start and finish line, which will offer them easier access and an even more exciting finish .

Montréal is thrilled as well to once again host two of the four events of the Tour du Grand Montréal. I urge you not to miss the individual time trial in the borough of Lachine and the classic race in the Little Italy section of the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie. The caliber of the competitors and the routes used guarantee a thrilling competition.

Once more, the City of Montréal is pleased to be a part of the success of these cycling events, offering technical support and providing security for the races and the thousands of spectators.

I am convinced the 2007 event will be thrilling and I hope large numbers of Montrealers will turn out to cheer the world's elite women cyclists.
